CAMPAIGNERS are devastated that the post offices they fought to save will close.
Packed public meetings showed the strength of opposition against plans to close the two post offices in Soothill and Bradford Road.
But Post Office Ltd announced on Tuesday that the decision to close both branches was final.
Campaigners, led by MP Mike Wood, handed in a written case to convince Post Office Ltd they should be kept open. A six-week public consultation ended last month.
The elderly and disabled were seen as the prime victims if the post office in Soothill closed - it is a steep hill away from the main branch in the town centre.
