PITTSBURGH, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Koppers Industries has completed the purchase of Aristech's coal chemicals business including the tar distillation plant in Clairton, PA. Plans for the purchase were announced last July, and have proceeded on schedule.
"We intend to operate the Clairton plant largely as it is for now and with a similar complement of employees," said Donald P. Traviss, President and Chief Executive Officer of Koppers Industries, Inc. "We are studying the possibility of some capital improvements for the plant and expect to have a better understanding before the end of 1996.
