Locals are fond of saying that Klamath Lake in Oregon is so big you could dump all of Washington's San Juan Islands in its lower basin between Rocky Point and the town of Klamath Falls. They will also tell you that a waterskier can ski 17 miles of the lake's 25-mile length without ever turning. At this point, the listener involuntarily rubs his arms and straightens his back in empathy for the poor waterskier who would endure such torture.
