Article: NISSAN AIMING FOR FREE CASH FLOW EQUAL TO 5% OF ANNUAL SALES.

TOKYO, July 18 Asia Pulse - Nissan Motor Co. (TSE:7201) has set a goal of having an average free cash flow equivalent to 5 per cent of the firm's annual sales under a five-year plan through March 2013.

With the business climate changing dramatically, Nissan seeks to have more cash on hand -- funds it will need to beat the competition in developing electric and ultralow-priced vehicles.

The automaker's free cash flow had been negative since fiscal 2004 because of investments in capacity. But it came to 474.6 billion yen (US$4.5 billion) in fiscal 2007, a turnaround from the negative free cash flow of 71.7 billion yen in fiscal 2006.
