An impressive second-half display last Friday earned the Bulldogs a point and it could have been more as they stretched the Vikings to the limit at Halton Stadium in National League One.
Motorway problems and the fact their team coach wasn't allowed into the car park, causing further delay, meant Batley had little time for pre-match preparation.
Not surprisingly they were 18-0 down in less than 15 minutes and looked to be in for a hammering. They improved towards half-time but it was still 28-6 at the break and seemed all over.
But the Bulldogs began to throw the ball around in the second half and at times ran Widnes ...
