A WORLD-class new cancer centre has been given the royal seal of approval as it was officially opened by Princess Anne.
The Princess Royal visited the Bexley Wing, also known as the St James's Institute of Oncology, at St James's Hospital in Leeds.
She met staff and guests, toured wards and spoke to patients, as well as unveiling a plaque marking the opening of the [pounds sterling]220m building.
The Princess said the huge wing, which opened on time and on budget just before Christmas last year , had been an "extraordinary Christmas present."
