Three weeks before the Olympic Trials in Philadelphia in June, gymnast Justin Spring--one of 14 U.S. National Team members competing for six spots in Beijing--has an ankle that hurts like hell. At a meet last April, he sprained it so badly while doing a floor routine that it was black the following morning. That proved to be just the latest in a long series of debilitating injuries for Spring.
