After three weeks of waiting, hoping and no doubt praying to get a chance, Pierre Spies will wear the No8 jersey against the Wallabies here today.
Many will feel the decision by Springbok coach Peter de Villiers to restore Spies to the back of the scrum is long overdue. He is, after all, one of the quickest and most explosive eighthmen in world rugby.
And his desire cannot be faulted. Spies wants to play for the Boks, every time. "It's an honour, a real privilege and it's just great to be back in the team," said the 23-year-old yesterday, hardly able to contain his excitement.
Spies has had to watch from the sidelines ...
