Relationship experts say there's always hope as long as both sides keep talking.
If that's true, fans of Elaine Viets may be able to read their favorite column in the pages of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch again some time soon.
But keeping the lines of communication open doesn't always guarantee a solution - so the mere fact that Post Editor William F. Woo and the former Post columnist are discussing reconciliation doesn't mean anything will come of it.
Viets and the Post parted ways in early January when she refused to return to St. Louis after being allowed to write her St. Louis-oriented column from Washington for more than a year.
