THERE is a prevailing attitude in Wales - especially among some younger people - that the first sign of sunshine is the cue to take off as much of our clothes as possible and expose our bodies to that ball of fire in the sky.

In the search of that prized all-over bronzed glow, the theory goes that sun screen is an unnecessary barrier to tanning.

Rather than regarding it as added protection against the sun's harmful rays, many perceive it as preventing the tanning rays from penetrating the skin.
