WASHINGTON -- "Beijing Every Day' is our goal," said Miriam Ching Louie, research coordinator for the Oakland, Calif.-based Asian Immigrant Women Advocates.
By that, Louie means implementing the U.N. Platform for Action recommendations 40,000 women worldwide took home with them following the 1995 U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing, China, six months ago.
For Louie, "Beijing Every Day" begins with the fact that "working conditions for women worldwide are very much the same." So the joint activities that her group and groups like it organize "to work for justice, especially for women of color, would work anywhere." she said.
