Insect discovered living in Sandy
A FRENCH spider-eating wasp has been discovered in Britain for the first time - living at Sandy.
The species was found in a quarry next to the RSPB's headquarters where a special habitat for rare insects had been created with the owners Lafarge Aggregates.
It is normally a Mediterranean species and the nearest it had been to Britain before was central France.
