BERWICK Slow Food Convivium was recently formed at a meeting in Spittal and is now planning events across the Eastern Borders.

Spanning an area up to 40 kilometres from Berwick, plans include visits to farms and producers, blind tastings, cookery demonstrations, dinners and even an alternative Christmas menu.

The Slow Food movement began in 1986 when an Italian journalist visited Rome and saw a brand new branch of McDonalds at the foot of the Spanish Steps.
