NORTHUMBERLAND National Park Authority could face a bleak financial future if the Government follows through its plans to cut back the budget by nearly 10% over the next two years.
Job losses and cuts to its education programmes would be on the cards if it has to slash its budget by [pounds sterling]200,000 in 2006/07 and [pounds sterling]300,000 in 2007/08.
Defra provides the bulk of the National Park's funding and has announced all English national parks should plan for a budget freeze.
This makes no allowance for inflation and national pay awards so Northumberland National Park Authority's annual budget would need to be cut.
