Article: Local successes at Berwick Regatta.

THE rain on Saturday did not stop 150 crews enjoying the biggest ever Berwick Rowing Regatta. The previous day's heavy rain in the Borders led to a fast running river at the West Ord course and this resulted in some fast race times.

The prestigious title of 'King of the Tweed' was won by Steven Thompson of Chester Le Street Rowing Club, winning the elite single sculls in a close fought final race against Berwick sculler Chris Eke.

Chris teamed up with Roy Trotter, David Stott and Ben Tucker coxed by Les Eke in the senior 4 coxed fours the new crew in their first race together rowed a fine race only losing by one length to Trevellyan College Durham.
