Kim Welch's long day's journey into night ended Sunday on the 18th green at the Links at Erie Village, where she survived a four-hole playoff to win the first Duramed Futures Tour title of her career.
Welch, the reigning champion of the Golf Channel's "Big Break" series, watched incredulously as Jin Young Pak missed a 3-footer that would have extended the playoff to yet another hole on a weather-beaten golf day that was already pushing 101/2 hours.
That miss caused Welch to double-take in disbelief just as her Futures Tour friend and Sunday caddie, Shayna Miyajima, lifted her and spun her around like a jubilant ...
