Crowds gather on anniversary of hunger striker.

CHAIRPERSON of the Stormont Culture, Arts and Leisure Committee, Barry McElduff MLA, addressed the large crowds who turned out to mark the 27th anniversary of Tyrone hunger striker, Martin Hurson, in Carrickmore last weekend.

The event kicked off with the annual Martin Hurson Memorial GAA cup finals, which took place at Galbally Pearses' football pitch.

Following the completion of the match and the trophy ceremony, thousands of republicans, including Hurson's family and friends, ined up at the local community centre to take part in the march to the Tyrone Volunteers Monument in Cappagh.
