WHAT IS IT?
In the early 1900s, the public beach became a popular summer destination for Americans and Europeans. The invention of the car simply made it easier to get there. The tin sand pail quickly became a must-have accessory for children. From the 1890s through the 1960s, various American and European companies such as Chein, Ohio Art, and Chad Valley made lithographed tin sand pails. These c. 1925 pails (top, 4"H, $180; bottom, 6"H, $350) depict a popular theme of children on the beach. There are a few rust stains, but the pails are in decent condition with their images intact.
VALUE = $180 - $350
