Nigeria's President Umaru Yar'Adua has outlined plans, supported by the UK government, to boost oil security, tackle corruption and promote peace in the southern oil-producing Niger Delta.

Speaking in London Thursday after a meeting with UK Premier Gordon Brown, Yar'Adua said he was seeking the UK's help to establish a maritime security training center that would serve "not just to enhance Nigeria's river and maritime security, but also the wider Gulf of Guinea region."
