NEW YORK -- After more than 30 years in business, Judith Leiber is ready to join the ranks.

The designer, whose minaudieres have been carried by many of the country's best-dressed women, will officially open the doors to her first free-standing boutique, at 987 Madison Ave., near 77th Street April 15.

With interiors designed by Parish Hadley, the 430-square-foot shop has a subtle color scheme that blends easily with the surrounding neighborhood, which is also home to many of Leiber's tony customers who shop at Vera Wang or have lunch at the Carlyle Hotel both on the same block.

The first-year sales projection is equally tony at $1 million.
