RIDGEFIELD, Conn., April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has initiated a voluntary recall of approximately 8,400 refill canisters of ALUPENT(R) (metaproterenol sulfate) Inhalation Aerosol which were shipped to wholesalers beginning on March 11, 1996. The only canisters being recalled are as follows:

Expiration Date: 9/97

Patients who have obtained an ALUPENT Inhalation Aerosol refill since March 11, 1996, should check the lot number on the label of their canister and return any with lot number 951051A to their pharmacist for a replacement.
