A BATLEY farmer is urging people to be wary of a poisonous wild flower.
Gill Paterson, who runs a farm between Soothill and Hanging Heaton, told the News she has already lost a pony and two cattle to ragwort - a plant that is also poisonous to humans.
Mrs Paterson, who runs Grange Farm with her brother Richard Oakes, said: "It's a constant headache. Our farm is organic so we can't spray it.
"We had a pony and two cattle die last year of ragwort poisoning. We want to try to eradicate it from our area."
Mrs Paterson said the problem is at its worst at this time of year, when the plants go to seed.
