An up-the-duff chick-flick in the grand tradition of Knocked Up and Baby Boom, Baby Mama has a simple but potentially promising premise -- a hyper-successful career woman inadvertently chooses a white trash loser as a surrogate mother and has to suffer the consequences.
Writer/director Michael McCullers handles the story reasonably well and his rather flabby script is largely salvaged by the fine performances of his two leading ladies. Comedienne and writer Tina Fey plays Tina Holbrook, a high-powered 37-year-old businesswoman with a big job at an organic food company but no partner and not much social life to speak of.
