I LOOKED FOR Erik Bedard in the Mariners clubhouse on Wednesday but didn't see him. I'll confess that I didn't look very hard.
If I'd found him, it would have been awkward or demeaning anyway - he would have blown me off or answered a few questions about his shoulder injury with one- or two-word answers. Trying to get comments from him just isn't worth it for either of us.
As you know, Bedard was supposed to be the team's new No. 1 starter when he arrived from Baltimore. To many fans, it looks like the Mariners got snookered in that deal.
So what do you do now? Pray there's another sucker GM who wants him? Or hang on to him ...
