A statement released almost a year ago by a conservative organization within the United Methodist Church is being challenged as divisive and unfaithful to church tradition by another group within the church. A 12-page critique of the earlier "Confessing Movement" statement was released at a late February press conference in Kansas City, Missouri, and was signed by 13 members of the clergy, including five pastors and five individuals connected with United Methodist seminaries.
