GILROY, Calif.--Apr. 11--Like teams of sled dogs, they huffed and puffed and barked as they made their way along Uvas Creek and through the streets of Gilroy.
Four Nob Hill Foods executives in running shoes and sweats pulled a rickety shopping cart loaded with two boxes of canned Elberta peaches, while a musher held onto the back of the cart and urged his team forward.
Then came another similar team and another and another.
The four teams passed by, running slowly along the side of the road as passing cars honked and people craned their neck to see what was going on.
