THE first tentative move has been made by Nissan in Europe into metal replacement for under-bonnet applications with the rocker cover and front cover of its 2-5 litre turbo-diesel engine for the Pathfinder and Navara vehicles.

Both parts were developed by two companies belonging to the MCC Mondragon Corporacion Cooperativa in Spain: Fagor Ederlan, which has traditionally specialised in engine parts, transmissions and car-body manufacturing in aluminium or iron, and plastics moulder Maier.
