Apr. 12--The German company that bought the technology of Commodore International Ltd. a year ago plans to sell it for a profit of 300 percent.
Escom AG said yesterday that it had a signed a letter of intent to sell the Commodore knowledge for $40 million to Visual Information Services Corp., of Chicago, a developer of devices that let people order movies and other services through cable-TV systems.
Escom, of Heppenheim, Germany, bought the intellectual property of Commodore at a bankruptcy auction in New York a year ago for $10 million. Commodore, one-time maker of Amiga computers, had its North American headquarters in West Chester.
