EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Los Angeles County's population grew to 10.4 million as of Jan. 1. 2008, according to estimates made by the California Department of Finance. The county's 88 cities and unincorporated areas saw population grow by 1.3 percent during 2007.
Los Angeles remains the largest city in the state, accounting for 10.5 percent of California's population. Irwindale was the fastest growing city in the county, with population up 4.7 percent. La Verne was the second fastest with 2.4 percent. The desert community of Palmdale saw its population grow by 2.2 percent and Signal Hill saw population grow by 2.1 percent.
