Article: Potential energy surfaces of the even-even [sup.230-238]U isotopes.

Nuclear structure of [sup.230-238]U isotopes hav been studied in the frame work of the interacting boson approximation model (IBM - 1). The contour plot of the potential energy surfaces, V([beta], [gamma]), shows that all nuclei are deformed and have rotational characters, SU(3). Levels energy spectra belonging to the gsb, [beta], [gamma] bands, electromagnetic transition rates B(E1) and B(E2), quadrupole moment [Q.sub.0], deformation parameterare [[beta].sub.2] and the strength of the electric monopole transitions X (E0/E2) are calculated. The calculated values are compared with the available theoretical and experimental data and show reasonable agreement.
