A MOTOR boat owner has been fined [pounds sterling]500 after speeding through Chichester Harbour at more than three times the legal limit.
Peter Shakeshaft of Brockham, Surrey, was caught driving his boat at more than 30 knots by a patrol officer.
The limit is eight knots. The officer trailed the boat for one nautical mile at 9.30pm on May 21.
When he cautioned him, Mr Shakeshaft said he was testing his engine because he had just had it rebuilt.
He pleaded guilty at Chichester Magistrates' Court where he received the fine as well as court costs.
