PEOPLE have welcomed plans to redevelop an empty office block because they feel it could make the surrounding area safer.
A proposal to convert Bellwin House, an office block in Queen's Street, Wellingborough, into flats was given the go-ahead at a meeting of Wellingborough Council's planning committee on Wednesday.
The existing three-storey building, which stand just behind the town's Tresham Institute campus, is to be transformed into 24 one and two-bedroomed flats, as well as having an extra floor added.
The building, which is next to the Grade II listed United Reformed Church, has been empty for years.
