The Latin Jazz All-Stars brought great joy to Clinton Square on Friday night.
Led by pianist Arturo O'Farrill, the ensemble lived up to its name. It closed the second night of Jazz in the Square with a set that allowed all six musicians to put their individual stamps on the lively sound.
Billed as a tribute to the late Hilton Ruiz and Mario Rivera, the music pulsed with cool Latin beats and danced with bright melodies.
Trumpeter Claudio Roditi was a star on Rivera's song "Ube." Trombonist Jimmy Bosch lit up the stage on his own composition, "Irvin on the Phone."
