In the heat of summer, even the fishing gets pretty simple.
For example, if you fly fish you really have only two choices: fish the Swift River for trout or wade small ponds to catch other species.
You can reduce your tackle to two small plastic bags and one rod if you bass fish. In recent days, bass have responded to two baits: a slowly fished floating frog over vegetation early and a meandering whacky hooked Senko or similar plastic the rest of the time. You can fish other baits, but you won't catch much.
I could be oversimplifying but, not by much.
