Jonathan Jansen is a teacher with years under his belt in the blackboard jungle - during the apartheid era and beyond. He's a patriot, but most of all he's an evangelist. His crusade is about South Africans and their memories of the past.

He believes that only if we can understand each other's memories will South Africa prevent more Johan Nels shooting innocent black South Africans in townships like Skierlik; only then will we stop rich white teenagers beating up black tramps, like the Waterkloof Four did.

Only then will we stop white university students peeing into the cleaning staff's food, as they did at the University of the Free State's now infamous Reitz hostel. ...
