Thousands of Orthodox Christians in the Estonian capital of Tallinn held a mass demonstration on March 16 against the Estonian government's refusal to recognize the Moscow-linked Estonian Orthodox Church. The demonstration was spurred by an international church dispute which has provoked conflict between the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople (in Istanbul, Turkey).
According to Moscow's Interfax news agency, between 13,000 and 16,000 people carried a cross and church banners in a protest march along the ancient narrow streets of Tallinn. The Estonian government has derived registration to the Estonian ...
