TORONTO -- The Mariners got a five-minute talk from manager Jim Riggleman after another in a series of excruciating losses Friday night, this one 5-4 in 10 innings to the Toronto Blue Jays.
But it was what Riggleman heard, not what he said, that gave the manager a dollop of sunlight in this darkest of seasons.
"You could hear it from everybody," Riggleman said after the Mariners' sixth consecutive loss, the second in a row in extra innings. "This one got in their craw. There have been a lot of tough losses in a lot of bad ways, but this one really got to them.
