BARCELONA, Spain _ Four years ago Barcelona got all gussied up for the Olympics. New hotels were built, streets were resurfaced, beaches were combed and the city donned its Sunday best.
Then everybody went home.
But Barcelona is still there, a polished 2,000-year-old jewel and as sophisticated as any city in Europe.
Though it's situated on the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, you'd never guess it a Mediterranean city.
