WORCESTER - With a chance to sweep its first round State Sectional series against Amherst, East Side manager Mark Peters took a gamble, giving the ball to St. John's senior-to-be Chris Creen for a rare start.
The crafty southpaw took full advantage of the opportunity, coming up aces for East Side with six solid innings of work, surrendering one run on four hits with five strikeouts and just one walk to lead Post 201 to a 10-1 win and into the second round of the State Sectionals at Tivnan Field.
Creen has started four games this season and won all of them.
