Frustrated by the negative image of World Cup 2010, former Spurs and England player Gary Mabbutt, now an ambassador for South Africa's staging of the 2010 football extravaganza, talked to Danny Jordaan, the chief executive of the South African Football Association, in Johannesburg last week and has now decided to speak out against recent criticism.
"One English paper had a double-page spread covering 24 hours in South Africa, saying '50 murders, 99 rapes and one World Cup'," said the former England international, who is married to a South African.
