VETERAN Fianna F?il TD Mary ORourke yesterday hinted that the Government could avoid holding a second referendum on the Lisbon Treaty by ratifying the document in the Houses of the Oireachtas.
Mrs ORourke yesterday said there would be nothing undemocratic about allowing Lisbon to be passed through the D?il and Seanad.
Speaking yesterday Mrs ORourke warned senior civil servants both in Europe and the Department of Foreign Affairs not to take the easy way out by holding another referendum and said the Government should investigate an alternative way of ratifying the treaty.
She said: Im just wondering if the great brains in Foreign Affairs ...
