WATSONVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 1996--West Marine, Inc. (WMAR) today reported that net income for the 13 weeks ended March 30, 1996, was $332,000, a 127% increase from net income of $146,000 reported for the same period last year.

Net income per share for the 13 weeks ended March 30, 1996, was $.04 compared to net income per share of $.02 for the same period last year.

Net sales increased 18.3%, to $49.9 million during the 13 weeks ended March 30, 1996, up $7.7 million from $42.2 million for the same period last year. For the 13 weeks ended March 30, 1996, comparable store net sales increased 5%.
