Apr. 23--Vicky Grissom's dream job is hard to top.
She gets to be around her beloved Shetland ponies and she brings unbridled joy to scores of children every week, not to mention a bit of common-sense country education.
Grissom runs the Countryside Pony Ranch, which provides pony rides for birthday parties.
It started simply enough 16 years ago. A friend asked if Grissom could bring a pony to a child's birthday party. Then another asked if she could have a birthday party at the Grissom's six-acre spread off Fairfax Road east of Bakersfield.
