1. Great fluctuations in market price
The consumption of caustic soda in China stayed in the valley in early 2007. With the impact from the long holiday during the Chinese New Year, the price of caustic soda fell on average. The gradual recovery of downstream sectors and the drastic export of caustic soda in early March 2007 led to a price pickup. Because of the floods in the southern regions in May 2007, one of the distribution destinations for surplus caustic soda in the northern regions was blocked.
