Experts say that the rising prices of raw materials such as concentrated sulfuric acid and titanium concentrate are squeezing the profit margin in the titanium dioxide sector.
Financial performance of titanium dioxide producers such as Anhui Annada Titanium Industry Co., Ltd. (Annada, SZ: 002136) has been down since 2008. Data show that the rate of sales gross profit and the rate of net assets return in Annada both plummeted past zero to -4.18% and -2.31% respectively in the first quarter of 2008, 21.2 percentage points and 9.2 percentage points lower than the same period of 2007.
