The majority of senior citizens will never spend time in a nursing home, but they will eventually need help with daily living. According to Deborah Fine Freundlich, author of Retirement Living Communities, it is estimated that 12% of those over 65, 37% of those over 75 and 70% of those over 85 will need one or two of the following services: transportation, house-keeping, shopping, home health care/help with medications and meal preparation.
That's where institutions like supported-living facilities and continuing-care communities come in.
