Donington Park was a very wet setting for the latest rounds of the British Touring Car Championship at the weekend. It was so bad, the meeting came close to being cancelled.
For the local Z Speed Racing outfit contesting the Elf Renault Clio Cup, this resulted in a race which started some four hours late.
Testing had gone well for the team and this was followed by a qualifying run which saw Martin Byford put the G Signs & Designs car on pole for the race.
When this got underway, on a wet track, Byford was the early leader, only to lose it with a run onto the grass at Craner Curves.
