Parking clampdown for disabled.

AN MSP has called on East Dunbartonshire residents to rally round and support plans to target the abuse of disabled parking spaces.

David Whitton, MSP for Strathkelvin and Bearsden, is backing a members bill in the Scottish Parliament which will make all existing disabled parking bays under the control of local authorities legally enforceable.

The bill, which was formally introduced at Holyrood last month by MSP Jackie Baillie, proposes that a fine of [pounds sterling]30, rising to [pounds sterling]60 after 14 days, will be given to able-bodied motorists who park in disabled parking bays.
