Three Wearside-born athletes will be aiming for gold at this year's Paralympic Games.
Sunderland sprinter Hazel Simpson (nee Robson), sailing champion John Robertson and swimmer Fran Williamson will all be travelling to Beijing in September in a bid to bring home medals for their country.
Hazel, 29, from New Herrington, has been one of Britain's most consistent sprinters for almost a decade, gaining medals at Paralympic, World and European levels.
She became a gold medallist in the 100m event at her Paralympic Games debut in Sydney in 2000.
She gained two silver medals at the games in Athens in 2004, and has a string of other medals ...
