Council acts to ease traffic chaos.

EAST Sussex County Council has pledged to take action after drivers suffered tailbacks and congestion when new bus lanes opened last week.

Fuming commuters faced severe delays to their journeys after the lanes came into operation along the A259 from Telscombe Cliffs to Ovingdean.

The project, a joint scheme by the county council and Brighton and Hove City Council, has seen the mini-roundabout at Longridge Avenue, Saltdean, replaced with traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing.

Now, following a deluge of complaints, ESCC has removed the crossing and installed special sensors on the lights to measure and respond to traffic queues.
